Class of 2024 - Senior Information

Please review these important reminders. 

• Cap & Gown Pictures: Friday, April 12th at 1:30. We will have honor cords available for students receiving those in the gym prior to pictures. You can also pick cords up from me throughout the week.

• Do you plan to attend SCC this Fall? Staff from Surry Community College will be in the Blue Bear Cafe on Thursday, April 11th to help you complete the registration process. You MUST have completed an application to SCC by tonight (4/8). Use THIS LINK to register for an SCC orientation session. **Many of you have registered for a session, but have not completed your application!**

• Yearbooks: Use THIS LINK to order a yearbook. See Mrs. Brown if you have any questions. 

• Do you have questions about college or FAFSA? Ms. White is available to meet with you one-on-one by appointment to assist. She is here on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Friday. Her office is across from the auditorium. Schedule an appointment at  https://calendly.com/fwhite-mahs. 

• Class of 2024 Social Media Profiles: If you would like to have your senior profile posted on the MACS social media platforms, use the link below to complete the senior profile form. Posts will begin April 22nd and will be posted in the order they are received. Follow @macschools on Facebook and Instagram to see your profile when it is posted. This is not required. Having your profile posted to the Mount Airy City Schools' social media platforms is completely voluntary.  Social Media Profile Form

• Scholarships: Access scholarships here. Subscribe to the MAHS Counseling and Guidance page to receive an alert any time I add new scholarships to the list. Here are the scholarships posted on the page as of today:

• Martha L. Joyce Scholarship - due 4/15

• WKBC Scholarship - 4/19

• Alpha Theta Scholarship - due 4/30

• North Carolina Home Builders Scholarship - due 4/30

• North Carolina Criminal Justice Fellows Program - due 4/30

• Surry County Farm Bureau Scholarship - due 4/30

• NAUW Scholarship - 5/1

• Surry County Arts Council Scholarship - due 5/3

• MAHS Transcripts: There are 3 ways students can have high school transcripts sent to colleges and universities: 
  • Common App (automatic) - If you applied through Common App, add Mrs. Henson as your Counselor, and your school report/transcript gets sent automatically. (If you can see that your school report has been sent, then your transcript has been sent also.)
  • CFNC (in-state / not automatic) - for any NC school that you applied to outside of Common App (CFNC, school website, etc.), use the link in the CFNC Application Hub to have your transcript sent. This is not automatic, you must use the REQUEST TRANSCRIPT button for each school. 
  • MAHS Website (out-of-state / not automatic) - For out-of-state schools not on the Common App, use THIS LINK to have your transcript sent. 

• Surry Community College Transcripts: If colleges are asking for your Surry Community College transcript, you have two options: 
  • If they need an official transcript, you will need to 
  • log into your MyKnightLife portal
  • Scroll all the way to the bottom right
  • Select “Request an Official Transcript”
  • In the top box, use the link that says “Order Your Transcript Online”
  • Follow the instructions to send your transcript (there will be a charge)
  • If they will accept an unofficial transcript, you can find that in the same place 
  •  log into your MyKnightLife portal
  • Scroll all the way to the bottom right
  • Select “Request an Official Transcript”
  • In the bottom box, use the link that says “Request an Unofficial Transcript”
  • Follow the instructions to see/download your transcript and then just take a screenshot (you can take a screenshot on your iPad automatically by using the camera button on the top center of your keypad)
  • You can either upload it into your university portal if that option is available or email it to your assigned university admissions counselor.
