How These Improvements Are Funded We know our school district, like many others, is navigating tight financial times due to rising costs and limited state and federal funding growth. You might wonder: If budgets are tight, how are we making these facility improvements?
- Restricted Funding: The $3M state allocation and foundation/lottery grants are strictly designated for capital and athletic facility projects.
- Protected Operations: By law, these funds cannot be used to pay for staff salaries, classroom materials, or general operational expenses.
- Maximizing Resources: While we continue to make prudent choices for our operating budget, we remain committed to taking full advantage of dedicated grants to keep our facilities safe and top-tier.
Planned Improvements & Priorities
- Turf Field Replacement: Required set-aside (Est. $1,750,000).
- Press Box Upgrade: Funded by the Mount Airy City Schools Foundation and educational lottery funds (Est. $120,000).
- Tennis Courts: Resurfacing is already included in this year's capital budget.
