SAFER Surry
The School of Advocacy, Fire, and Emergency Response
The School of Advocacy, Fire, and Emergency Response is a program to support our secondary students at Mt. Airy High School to develop college and career readiness skills that will benefit the Surry community. Through the SAFER Surry project, we aim to inform and shift the mindset of students, high school teachers and families of the opportunities for students with a personal interest in public safety as a field that will better our community and world.
Five Goals of SAFER Surry
Student choice and voice in personal and professional interests
Advanced teaching and professional development opportunities to promote the continuum of career and college readiness
Field placement and job ready skills that will enhance the development of public safety in the Surry community
Enhanced business partnerships with workforce development
Relevant technology integration
