Scholarship Tips
-You should not have to pay to submit a scholarship application.
-Check this page often. It is updated regularly.
-The FAFSA is most often a student's main source of financial aid, and required for some scholarships.
-Do not wait until the last minute to submit scholarship applications.  Many portals close before midnight on the due date.
-Have someone you trust look over your scholarship applications before you submit them.
-Many colleges have their own application or online portal for internal scholarships. Check the procedures at each college you apply to.

Next NC Scholarship
Criteria: Seniors will qualify for this scholarship if they are eligible for in-state tuition, plan to enroll at an NC community college or UNC system university, live in a household with an Adjusted Gross Income of $80,000 or less, and submit a FAFSA before priority deadlines.
Amount: $3,000-$5,000/year

College Board Opportunity Scholarship
Criteria: Juniors and seniors can earn scholarships by completing steps to prepare for college.

NC Reach Grant and Education Training Vouchers
Criteria: Seniors who are currently or were formerly in foster care may apply for funding to attend a public community college or university in NC or to earn a technical certification.

Destiny's Dream Legacy Grant

Criteria: Seniors who have been affected by homelessness and plan to pursue higher education may apply for this grant.

Gates Scholarship

Criteria: Seniors who demonstrate financial need (are Pell-eligible) with at least a 3.3 unweighted GPA, and who plan to attend an accredited 4-year college or university may apply for this scholarship.

Coca-Cola Scholarship

Criteria: Seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA may apply for this scholarship.

QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship

Criteria: Seniors who have earned mostly A's in challenging coursework, and have a household income of less than $65,000 may apply for this scholarship.

Morehead-Cain Scholarship

Criteria: Seniors who demonstrate leadership, character, scholarship, and physical vigor, and who intend to apply to UNC Chapel Hill by January 1, 2027 may apply for this scholarship.

Levine Scholarship

Criteria: Seniors who have an exceptional academic record, a commitment to community service, and who plan to apply to UNC Charlotte may apply for this scholarship. Please let Mrs. Henson know if you are interested in being nominated.

Deadline: October 15, 2026 (Nomination Deadline)
